In September 2024, our first presentation at Amelie, Maison d’Art unfolds as a poetic dance of nature’s wild beauty, where elegance emerges from the serendipity of chance. The pieces are inspired by the graceful curves of Linde Freya Tangelder’s Curving Wood—an impressive large woodblock installation showcased in the entry room of Amelie, Maison d’Art's NYC location. Coinciding with Collectible Fair week, these works embrace the arrival of autumn and celebrate the boundless beauty of the natural world.
Wrapped in layers of chocolate and vanilla, the Marbled Corner trio of berry cakes reveals intricate, winding patterns reminiscent of the organic flow of woodgrain. These delicate swirls, like nature’s own serendipitous designs, invite quiet reflection on the beauty found in the world around us. The artful marbling captures the essence of nature’s spontaneous creativity, infusing the dessert with a refined elegance and sense of tranquility.
Lightly dusted with cocoa powder, Ebony Pond is an unconventional tiramisu, its layers flowing like tree rings, evoking a natural rhythm. The dessert mirrors the soft ripples that spread across still autumn waters, creating a serene and calming experience.
Supported by a base of multigrain and sesame bread, Little Slate features delicate seaweed crisps, meticulously hand-crafted to evoke the textures of moss and lichen clinging to ancient rocks. Adorned with sesame seeds, salmon flakes, and additional seaweed, these crisps create a visual and textural harmony, reminiscent of nature’s rugged beauty.
Cocoa Frost Stone, with its rugged form mirroring the raw elegance of a weathered brown stone, contrasts a seemingly hard exterior with a soft, airy chiffon cake and fresh strawberries nestled within, celebrating both the rugged and delicate aspects in perfect harmony.
Each element on the table is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the untamed grace of the natural world, celebrating the artistry found in randomness and the unexpected. It invites viewers to embrace the profound beauty that emerges from nature’s spontaneous moments.
